Two firearms and quantities of narcotics were discovered and removed from the streets this week, as officers conducted further intelligence-led anti-crime exercises across the Northern and Eastern Divisions.
In a media release the TTPS said Task Force officers of the North Eastern Division, conducted an exercise in the Tunapuna Police district between 8 pm and 8:40 pm, on Tuesday 12th September, 2023, during which they found one rifle and a quantity of ammunition in a bushy area at Noel Trace, St. Augustine.
Meanwhile, in the Eastern Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 5 am on Monday 11th September, 2023 and 6 pm, on Tuesday 12th September, 2023, during which they proceeded to conduct a search of an abandoned structure at North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande.
The search resulted in one pump-action shotgun and a quantity of marijuana being discovered and seized.
Also in the Eastern Division, five people were arrested for various warrants during an exercise conducted between 3 am and 6:30 am today, in the Mayaro district, by officers of the Criminal Investigations Department and Task Force. Investigations are ongoing into the all the matters.
