A 25-year-old man from Tunapuna has been sentenced to 11 months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing alcohol during a housebreaking incident, last week.
Shaquille Alexander, of Lashley Street, Tunapuna, received the sentence after pleading guilty to larceny during a virtual hearing before Magistrate Sherene Murray-Bailey, on Friday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 10 pm, last Tuesday, at Moreno Circle, Golden View, El Dorado.
The owner of the house claimed that someone broke in and stole bottles of premium alcohol, several bunches of keys, and an automatic gate remote.
A team of officers led by Sgt Sean Ammon and including Sgt Luke, and Cpl Ramjohn, received information and executed a search warrant at Alexander’s home.
They found the stolen items and Alexander confessed while being interrogated.
Alexander’s early guilty plea and his criminal record were considered by Murray-Bailey as she decided on an appropriate sentence.
