Two suspects in separate incidents have been charged with attempted murder and firearm-related offences.
A T&T Police Service media release said Josiah Johnson, of D’Abadie, was charged last Friday in connection with the attempted murder of a man in D’Abadie, which occurred on May 16, 2022.
He was also charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition to endanger life.
Johnson was allegedly found in possession of a firearm and ammunition at the time of his arrest on May 30, 2022, by officers of the Maloney Crime Patrol Unit.
One other person had been previously charged in connection with this matter.
He was identified as Nebare Lee, who was arrested on May 17, 2022, and charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition to endanger life.
At the time of his arrest, Lee was allegedly in possession of a pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition. He appeared before an Arima magistrate and was remanded into custody. He is due to reappear in court on June 28.
In the second incident, Leon Sylvester, of D’Abadie, was charged in connection with an attempted murder incident on March 23, 2022.
He was also charged with firearm-related offences.
Investigations into these matters were headed by Senior Supt. Paponette, Supt. Edwards, ASP Etienne and conducted by officers of the Maloney Criminal Investigations Department.
