Two employees of Carib Brewery in Champs Fleurs have been arrested in connection with a false report of robbery and kidnapping.
A 42-year-old truck driver of Upper Bushe St, Petit Bourg, San Juan, along with a 20-year-old loader of Upper Bushe St, Maitagual, San Juan, left the company’s premises around 8.06 am on November 3, with an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
The two claimed they were driving south along Ramatally Trace, Charlieville, when a gold Nissan Almera abruptly pulled in front of them, forcing them to come to a stop.
It was alleged that an armed man emerged from the passenger seat and got into the company’s truck before ordering the driver to go to the Munroe Road Recreation Ground.
The two employees claimed a white Kia K2700 with two other suspects arrived a short while later, and they were ordered out of their truck and told to offload some of the assorted alcoholic beverages onto the van, which was then driven off in an unknown direction.
The “victims” further claimed a blue three-tonne truck arrived after, following which they were again ordered to offload the remainder of assorted alcoholic beverages onto it, before it was driven off.
The men reported that the armed suspect who had remained with them ordered them back into their truck and made them drive to Cemetery Street, which is a short distance away, and instructed them to get out.
They said the gold Nissan Almera reappeared, and they were forced in, following which they were taken to Munroe Road in the vicinity of Tee Jay Supermarket, where they were released.
The men filed a report at the Cunupia Police Station and were taken by officers on a drive to map the route used by the alleged suspects. After inquiry and investigation, the officers determined the victims had filed a false report regarding the incident. - ALP
