Two of the detainees who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Aripo yesterday have returned to the facility. Police confirmed to Guardian Media a short while ago that two Venezuelan nationals, Charlie Perez Jose and Claudio Flores, walked back into the facility early this morning.

At around 11 pm Wednesday, officers at the IDC were told by another detainees that two of the escapees were lost in a nearby forested area. A landmark location was given and the two men, Venezuelan nationals were eventually returned to custody.

Police reports state that 11 Venezuelans and one Grenadian national escaped from the facility between 3 pm and 5 pm yesterday during an airing exercise. They escaped after cutting a hole on the fence on the eastern perimetre of the compound.

It was the third break out from the IDC for the year. In April, five men escaped and two broke out of the facility in March.

Anyone with information that can lead to the recapture of the remaining escapees can contact the nearest police station, 800-TIPS, or send a message via WhatsApp at 482-GARY.
