South West­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers have ar­rest­ed sev­er­al sus­pects and seized two firearms and quan­ti­ties of drugs dur­ing on­go­ing in­tel­li­gence-led an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es on Wednes­day.

Of­fi­cers of the Point Fortin Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SWDTF) and Ca­nine Branch, con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise around 6 pm dur­ing which they pro­ceed­ed to the Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin home of a 27-year-old sus­pect.

A search was con­duct­ed at the house and re­sult­ed in one 12-gauge shot­gun be­ing found hid­den un­der a tele­vi­sion stand.

The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

Mean­while, Task Force of­fi­cers were on mo­bile pa­trol around 10 pm on Wednes­day in the Bar­rack­pore dis­trict, when they ob­served a male sus­pect walk­ing along the road­way with an ob­ject re­sem­bling a firearm in his pos­ses­sion.

The sus­pect was stopped and searched and one shot­gun and a shot gun bar­rel were found in his pos­ses­sion. The 30-year-old Bar­rack­pore man was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

And, an Op­er­a­tion Safe Streets ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in the Ce­dros and Point Fortin dis­tricts be­tween 2 pm and 7 pm on Wednes­day, re­sult­ed in the ar­rest of three per­sons for var­i­ous of­fences in­clud­ing, pos­ses­sion of a stolen ve­hi­cle, pos­ses­sion of co­caine and pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

The same par­ty of of­fi­cers al­so dis­cov­ered and de­stroyed 50 ful­ly grown mar­i­jua­na trees in a bushy area off Erin Road, Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin.

Al­so, two sus­pects of Siparia and Rousil­lac, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with Traf­fick­ing in Mar­i­jua­na by of­fi­cers of the Siparia CID around 9:15 pm yes­ter­day.

The men were ar­rest­ed at a carpark in the dis­trict and quan­ti­ties of mar­i­jua­na and cash found in their pos­ses­sion.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing in­to all of the above mat­ters.
