Two men were caught in the act as they attempted to steal a quantity of alcohol from an Arima bar last night.
According to official police reports, around 10:45pm, on Sunday 5th April 2020, officers of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, the Northern Division’s Emergency Response Patrol and Northern Division’s Area East Task Force, responded to a report of a larceny in progress at a bar located at the corner of Queen and Devenish Streets, Arima.
When they arrived at the location, officers observed a man standing outside the establishment with a black bag in his possession. A search was conducted, resulting in officers finding a hammer inside the bag.
Further checks of the premises resulted in the discovery of another male suspect who was found hiding inside the bar area. A white bag containing a quantity of alcoholic beverages also was found in his possession.
It is believed the men gained entrance to the premises by breaking a glass window.
The men, a 45-year-old and a 40-year-old, both of Arima, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigations are ongoing.
