Two men are scheduled to appear at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today, to face charges of larceny of cattle, in the Barrackpore area.
38-year-old ARJOON RAMPERSAD, of Mandingo, and 57-year-old ASHOOK GOSINE, of Cunjal, were charged by Barrackpore Police on May 25, 2020.
Official police reports state that the charges were laid in relation to incidents of lost, stolen, or strayed animals, which occurred on the following dates:
■ April 14, 2020: One (1) goat valued at TT$2,500.00
■ May 15, 2020: Three (3) sheep valued at TT$4,500.00
■ May 16, 2020: Two (2) goats valued at TT$5,000.00
■ May 17, 2020: Three (3) sheep valued at TT$4,200.00
Arjoon Rampersad was held on May 23, 2020, after attempting to take one (1) sheep from a property located on Cunjal Road, Barrackpore.
Officers immediately responded and the sheep was recovered and returned to its owner. Mr. Rampersad was arrested and taken to the Barrackpore Police Station. He was later charged with four (4) additional counts of larceny cattle after further inquiries were conducted.
Ashook Gosine was arrested the following day and charged with one count of larceny cattle.
Their case is scheduled to be heard today, before a Princes Town Magistrate.
Inquiries were conducted and the arrests were made by Sgt. Victor, Cpl. Bisnath, PC Rampersad, PC Sankar. They were later charged by PC Ramsuchit.
Investigations were conducted by WPC Pierre, PC Ross, WPC Battersby and PC Harripersad.
