A 31-year-old worker of the Port of Spain City Corporation was shot dead while purchasing breakfast from a vendor in the capital city on Thursday morning.
According to a police report, the incident occurred at the corner of Quarry and Observatory Streets, at about 7 am.
Police said David Parag of Gilkes Street, St James, had just placed his order of a sandwich when the armed man walked up to him.
Parag made an attempt to run away from the gunman who opened fire on him and then calmly walked away.
Police said he was shot eight times about the upper body.
In an unrelated incident in Arima on Wednesday night, a man was also shot while in the carpark of a popular supermarket at O'Meara Road.
Police said at about 9.30 pm a volley of gunshots were heard by the supermarket's employees and others on the compound.
Upon checks, they discovered the body of Keron Pereira slumped in the backseat of a Nissan Tiida.
Those two latest murders have brought the toll to 256.
