Two-year-old Umar Ali has been found and is undergoing medical treatment at the Sangre Grande Hospital at this time. The child’s mother, Adeeba confirmed to the Guardian Media that she was contacted by the police and told that her child has been found and in hospital. “We are now going there so we don’t have any details as yet,” Adeeba’s brother, Habib said.
One week ago two-year-old Umar Ali was snatched while sleeping by a close male relative from his home in Sangre Grande.
The T&T Police Service (TTPS) had heightened its appeal to anyone with information on the whereabouts of missing two-year-old Umar Ali to immediately contact the Sangre Grande Police Station at 668-2444 or call its hotlines at 999 or 555 or CRIME STOPPERS at 800-TIPS.
Umar, who was last seen by relatives on May 23 at their Quash Trace, Sangre Grande home, was reported missing to their local police on the same day.
Around 2 am last Tuesday, a close male relative broke into her house and took the sleeping child away from her. She added that there has been no word since on the whereabouts of the man and the child.
Since the missing person report, according to a release issued by the TTPS, Senior Superintendent, Eastern Division, Ryan Khan, as well as officers assigned to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Research Analytical Unit, Traffic Department, as well as the Hunters Search and Rescue Team “have been working together to locate the toddler.”
