The Principal of The UWI’s St Augustine Campus has given assurances the institution has increased its security measures.
Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine reported on the security enhancements on Tuesday, during the Annual Meeting of the Campus Council.
She revealed that the administration has increased campus lighting, in addition to implementing a full-time shuttle service.
“We have put in tracking devices and monitoring devices in the shuttles to assist in monitoring and patrols,” she reported.
“The patrols themselves, in terms of manpower walking the campus, that has increased. Of course, we’ve always had a ‘buddy system’ where both students and staff could call upon security to accompany you,” she told the Campus Council.
Professor Belle-Antoine also noted that CCTV systems are now monitoring the campus 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
