A Barrackpore family was beaten and valuables worth more than $120,000 stolen during a home invasion on Sunday night.
Police said three gunmen attacked the family of three around 11 pm at their Pierre Trace, Upper Barrackpore home.
Two of the victims, a 55-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman had just returned home. The other victim, a 33-year-old woman, was inside the house.
As the older woman was attempting to close the front gate, three masked suspects approached and pushed her to the ground. They then forced the couple into the house. The man was beaten on the head with a gun.
Once inside, the suspects ransacked the premises and robbed the family of valuables estimated at more than $120,000, including jewellery, two cell phones and personal documents.
After the robbery, the suspects left in a silver Toyota Aqua.
Police Constables Rawlins and Seecharan responded promptly and conducted area checks for the suspects and the vehicle they were in, which proved unsuccessful.
A canvass of the neighbourhood for CCTV footage also came up empty, though police stated that “useful information” was obtained through interviews with residents.
Officers from the Barrackpore Police Station are investigating.
