Venezuela wants increased flights to and from Trinidad and Tobago

Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs Dr Amery Browne has met with His Ex­cel­len­cy Dr Yván Gil Pin­to, Min­is­ter of the Peo­ple’s Pow­er for For­eign Af­fairs of the Bo­li­var­i­an Re­pub­lic of Venezuela.

The meet­ing took place yes­ter­day dur­ing the 78th Reg­u­lar Ses­sion of the Unit­ed Na­tions Gen­er­al As­sem­bly in New York, Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca.

Al­so present was His Ex­cel­len­cy Raúl Li Causi Pérez, Vice Min­is­ter of the Peo­ple’s Pow­er for For­eign Af­fairs of the Bo­li­var­i­an Re­pub­lic of Venezuela.

In a state­ment from the Min­istry of For­eign and Cari­com Af­fairs it said Min­is­ter Gil ex­pressed ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the con­tin­ued sup­port of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go for the de­mo­c­ra­t­i­cal­ly elect­ed Gov­ern­ment of Bo­li­var­i­an Re­pub­lic of Venezuela, and the dis­cus­sion re­volved around on­go­ing en­er­gy co­op­er­a­tion, co­op­er­a­tion in terms of mi­gra­tion, se­cu­ri­ty and de­fense, con­nec­tiv­i­ty, and the re­cent cel­e­bra­tion of the 61st an­niver­sary of the es­tab­lish­ment of diplo­mat­ic re­la­tions be­tween both coun­tries.

It said, "Look­ing for­ward, Min­is­ter Browne ex­pressed the hope that both sides would be ready to sign a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing on De­fence and Se­cu­ri­ty Co­op­er­a­tion be­fore the end of 2023, while the Venezue­lan For­eign Min­is­ter looked for­ward to in­creas­ing the num­ber of flights be­tween both coun­tries."
