One day after the funeral of Venezuelan mother Katherine Diaz, her common- law husband appeared in court charged with her murder.
With the assistance of Spanish interpreter Moonilal Ragbir, the charge was read to Venezuelan national Jose Goregorio Moya Guerra in the Rio Claro Magistrates Court.
He appeared before Senior Magistrate Rae Roopchand charged with murdering Diaz, a mother of four, on May 5 at a house at King Stree, Princes Town.
She was stabbed during an argument.
Diaz's funeral service took place on Tuesday at Armours Funeral Home in Princes Town. The magistrate explained to him that in T&T murder is a capital offence and he is not entitled to bail and will not be asked to enter.
Police Sergeant Shazeed Mohammed prosecuted in the matter. Roopchand told the accused a file will be sent to the Ofice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The matter adjourned to June 12.
