The Water and Sewerage Authority says there is a delay in emergency repair works on a ruptured pipeline along the Western Main Road in Cocorite. According to a press release from WASA, the delay is due to the existence of T&TEC high voltage underground lines in the vicinity of the ruptured pipeline. However, the Authority expects repair work to be completed by 4:00 pm today.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises customers in parts of North West Trinidad, who are impacted by a ruptured 16 inch diameter transmission pipeline, along the Western Main Road, Cocorite, in the vicinity of the Peake’s Service Station that, there has been an unforeseen delay in the completion of the emergency repair works.
This has been due to the existence of T&TEC high voltage underground lines in the vicinity of the ruptured pipeline, which slowed progress on the works. Customers served by the El Socorro Booster Station are also advised that their service will be interrupted, due to the stoppage of the facility, as a consequence of the ongoing repairs to the pipeline.
The Authority is working assiduously to complete the remaining repairs, in order to restart the El Socorro Booster by 12:00 noon, while work in the area of the pipeline is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. today – Thursday 14th April, 2022. Areas affected include: Barataria St. Anns Morvant Cascade East Dry River Dibe, Long Circular Port-of-Spain St. James St. Barbs Cocorite Gonzales Belmont West Moorings (South) Customers are advised that it may take up to 24 hours for the pipe borne water supply to normalize to some affected areas following the completion of these repair works.
Motorists are also advised to proceed with caution and to obey the instructions of the Traffic Control Officers on duty in the vicinity of the jobsite.
