Residents in parts of South West Trinidad served by the Point Fortin Desalination Plant and Granville Water Treatment Plant, who are currently experiencing an interruption in their pipe borne water supply, can expect to see some relief after 4:00 pm, today.
The supply disruption would have commenced at about 7:00 this morning.
A statement from the Water and Sewerage Authority advises that it is necessary due to planned works by the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) at their Point Fortin Sub-Station, which will affect the power supply to both facilities.
Affected areas include:
Point Fortin (high points), Techier, Vance River, Merrimac, Vessigny, TGU, La Brea (up to the Pitch Lake), Parrylands, Cochrane, Mahaica, Lot 10, Cochrane, Clifton Hill, Reservoir Hill; along with Granville, Cedros, Fullerton, Bamboo, Icacos and Environs, Pt. Coco, Columbus and Coromandel.
WASA customers are reminded that it may take up to 24 hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas, in accordance with pipe borne water supply schedules, after restoration of power to the facilities.
For further information or assistance, customers are asked to contact WASA’s Customer Call Centre toll free at 800-4420 or 800-4426.
