Former Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales is calling on the Ministry of Public Utilities and the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) to explain what is causing reports of electricity dips and fluctuations across the country.
Gonzales said the Opposition has received numerous complaints from citizens who have experienced fluctuations in their electricity supply over the past several days and weeks.
He said the issue was particularly concerning because of the potential damage to household appliances and other electrical equipment.
Gonzales said many citizens were already facing financial pressures and could ill afford the cost of repairing or replacing appliances damaged by fluctuations in the electricity supply.
He is calling on T&TEC and the Government to explain the cause of the reported fluctuations and outline the steps being taken to address the problem.
Gonzales said the public deserves a reliable electricity supply and greater clarity on the issues affecting it.
