Acting Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Stuart R. Young MP, has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the State’s failure to file a defense in a civil action of malicious prosecution case linked to the Vindra Naipaul-Coolman murder trial.
Young confirmed the decision via press release this morning.
The men who were acquitted of kidnapping and murdering businesswoman Vindra Naipaul-Coolman are set to each receive a little over $2 million for malicious prosecution.
The State did not challenge their lawsuit and they received a default judgement.
Minister Young and the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs are expected to address this matter tomorrow at a press conference.
