Speaking with the T&T Guardian a relative said at about 5 am she was getting ready to leave her home to go and pick up the school children when the incident happened.
"As soon as she cracked the door of the vehicle there was a loud explosion and she was sent flying backward into a wall. She went unconscious for a few minutes and when she catch back herself her entire body was on fire and her clothes burnt off completely," Changar's relative said.
The relative said that she decided to convert the vehicle to CNG upon recommendations from the Ministry of Education. She took the vehicle to the technician on Tuesday to have it installed.
After installation, Changar had to take it back both Wednesday and Thursday to have "final works" done.
Changar was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope where she was treated and is currently warded in a critical condition.
