After spending approximately five months at hospital in critical condition, Ellena Dial 19, who was doused with a flammable substance in January has died.
Dial, who lived at Riseland Trace, Carnbee, suffered third degree burns on approximately 90 per cent of her body. She died at the Mt. Hope Hospital on Wednesday night.
Sgt Sterling, of the Crown Point Police Station, laid charge.
Around 8.50 pm on January 28, 2020, Dial, a kitchen assistant employed with the Tristar Restaurant, was set on fire by a man known to her.
We are told that she ran into the Apex Restaurant located at Kilgwyn Extension, Canaan, pleading for help. Emergency first aid was administered by the staff and EHS was called. She suffered third degree burns about her body.
She was taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for treatment and was subsequently airlifted to Trinidad for advanced medical care.
The Tobago Homicide Bureau is continuing investigations
Following the incident, Antonio Marcelle, 20, a labourer, of Les Coteaux, was charged with attempted murder. He is currently on $400,000 bail.
