An Arima woman is expected to be charged with forgery and uttering a forged document to the T&T Police Service (TTPS) when she applied to become a police officer seven years ago.
Police said the woman applied to join the TTPS in 2018 when she submitted several documents, including her Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) certificates.
However, as officers recently began reviewing applicants, they noticed that there were several discrepancies in the certificate provided.
A report was made, and officers of the Fraud Squad began an investigation into the matter.
The woman visited the Police Training Academy, St James, for final orientation before entering training yesterday, when she was arrested by police.
Investigators said as part of the enquiry, correspondence was made with the Ministry of Education, where confirmation was sought on whether the documents were valid or forged. The woman is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today. —Shane Superville
