RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT
Investigations are continuing into a bomb scare that reportedly occurred at the TTPost Office located along the Eastern Main Road in Sangre Grande, on Thursday 31 March 2022.
Guardian Media understands that just after 12 pm, a woman who reportedly was unable to access the services she wanted at the TTPost outlet, allegedly indicated that she had a bomb in her possession and allegedly threatened to "bomb up the building".
Although the woman appeared to be intellectually disabled, the necessary precautions were taken immediately.
Staff members were alerted, and the police called in, Guardian Media was told.
A party of police officers, along with Fire Service officials responded, and together with the assistance of the Canine Unit, carried out a thorough search of the building.
When Guardian Media visited the scene, members of staff were seen at the Muster Point looking on as the officers and their police dogs searched the compound.
No one commented on the incident. However, police officers on the scene confirmed the bomb scare and assured that thorough security checks were made, and the building subsequently cleared.
No one was detained.
