Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the killing of a 68-year-old woman at her home on Nanan Street, Bam­boo #1, Val­sayn, ear­ly on De­cem­ber 24, 2025.

Of­fi­cers were called to the house at around 12:49 am. On ar­rival, they met the vic­tim’s daugh­ter, who told them she had re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that a rel­a­tive went to the house, said he killed her moth­er and claimed he had con­sumed poi­son.

Po­lice en­tered the house through an ajar wood­en door and found the woman ly­ing mo­tion­less on her back. She was clad in a cream-coloured dress and red un­der­wear, both stained with blood.

She was lat­er iden­ti­fied as Shaf­fi­na Ho­sein Madoo.

A male rel­a­tive was found at the scene next to the body. Af­ter be­ing cau­tioned, he said:

“She be­trayed me. I can’t take that. I beat she with the bil­na and kill she. The mes­sages on her phone with she and that man. I work­ing Xtra Foods.”

Emer­gency Health Ser­vices con­firmed the woman showed no signs of life.

The rel­a­tive, who was vom­it­ing and said he had con­sumed a poi­so­nous sub­stance, was tak­en to the Mt Hope Hos­pi­tal un­der po­lice es­cort.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer lat­er pro­nounced the woman dead and or­dered her body re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, pend­ing a post-mortem.
