Of­fi­cers of the North East­ern Di­vi­sion res­cued a woman from a ve­hi­cle in the La Fil­lette dis­trict and ar­rest­ed a 22-year-old El Do­ra­do man fol­low­ing a re­port­ed ab­duc­tion on Mon­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) me­dia re­lease, the vic­tim was at her Diego Mar­tin home around 7.05 pm when a man known to her ar­rived and asked to speak with her.

When she re­fused, he al­leged­ly grabbed her, lead­ing to a strug­gle, dur­ing which time she ob­served what ap­peared to be a firearm tucked in­to his waist­band. The re­lease stat­ed that the vic­tim man­aged to push the man out of the house and lock the door. How­ev­er, he al­leged­ly re-en­tered through an un­se­cured kitchen win­dow and searched her bed­room for her cel­lu­lar phone.

He then al­leged­ly found the phone and took it to his ve­hi­cle. When the vic­tim at­tempt­ed to re­trieve it, he al­leged­ly pulled her in­to the ve­hi­cle and drove off against her will.

While trav­el­ling along Rich­plain Road, the vic­tim re­port­ed­ly jumped from the mov­ing ve­hi­cle but was struck by the open car door when the sus­pect re­versed. He then al­leged­ly pulled her back in­to the ve­hi­cle and con­tin­ued dri­ving in the di­rec­tion of Mara­cas.

A re­port was made to po­lice and of­fi­cers from the Mara­cas Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed.

Around 9 pm, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to the La Fil­lette dis­trict, where they ob­served a light blue Toy­ota Axio with two oc­cu­pants. As of­fi­cers ap­proached, the woman ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle scream­ing and ran to­wards them. The male oc­cu­pant was sub­se­quent­ly ar­rest­ed.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, act­ing on in­tel­li­gence, of­fi­cers searched the area and dis­cov­ered a Beretta pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing three rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The vic­tim was tak­en for med­ical treat­ment.
