A 30-year-old woman was stabbed by another woman during an altercation at a bar in Claxton Bay on Saturday.
Police said the victim of Lodge Road, Claxton Bay, was at Side Bar along the Southern Main Road around 3 am when she and the suspect began arguing.
It escalated into an altercation at the entrance of the bar, during which the suspect stabbed the victim repeatedly with a knife.
The suspect then ran off. The victim was taken to the Couva District Hospital for treatment.
Men robbed $25,000 while purchasing car from social media
Two men were robbed of $25,000 in cash when they went to purchase a car in Siparia which was advertised on Facebook.
Police said the victims, a 34-year-old forklift operator from Arouca and a 34-year-old accountant from Chaguanas went to Irwin Park Sporting Complex around 1:30 pm on Saturday to purchase a grey Nissan hatchback Tida which was advertised on Facebook.
When they got to the carpark, they were told to meet the owner at Samdaye Drive, Park Street. When they got there two suspects, one armed with a gun, took the $25,000 from them as well as a $1,400 blue Redmi cell phone and a $2,700 white Samsung A31 cell phone.
The suspects ran through a nearby track and escaped.
PS4 stolen by Facebook ‘buyer’
An Arima man who made arrangements to sell a PS4 Bundle via Facebook and later went to Gran Curacaye, San Juan to conclude the sale – was robbed of the items by the “buyer” who later disappeared in some bushes.
Police said the 34-year-old victim of Phase 3, Malabar posted the advertisement on Facebook Marketplace on January 25.
He was contacted by the potential buyer two days later on January 27 – and the two agreed to meet on February 1, at the Croisee, San Juan.
The victim told police he was directed to Gran Curacaye, San Juan, after the suspect sent the location to his phone via WhatsApp.
It was alleged that as he arrived at the location and was attempting to park his black Toyota Yaris, the suspect approached the vehicle, opened the right rear back door and grabbed the item off the back seat.
As the victim began shouting, the suspect ran downhill towards an abandoned structure and disappeared into some nearby bushes.
The PS4 Bundle was valued at $ 2,100.
Gun and illegal drugs found
An anti-crime operation by officers of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Area South on Friday resulted in officers recovering one firearm along with a quantity of narcotics.
The exercise which was coordinated by Snr Supt Carty, Supt Glodon, ASP Reyes and Insp Petti, was carried out by members of the CDTF Area South under the supervision of Sgt Blackman.
Police said during the period 5 pm and 10 pm on January 31, officers searched several drug blocks in Couva and Freeport.
Receiving information around 6 pm, officers proceeded to School Road, Esperanza, where they searched an abandoned galvanised shack and found a rusty coloured barrel in which a shotgun and two bundles of marijuana had been hidden.
The marijuana which weighed 2.2 kilos, had an estimated street value of $20,000.
