A 22-year-old woman re­mained in po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day af­ter stab­bing her male com­pan­ion dur­ing an ar­gu­ment on Sun­day.

The 27-year-old vic­tim of Ma­hogany Trace, Diego Mar­tin was with the sus­pect and her moth­er at their house at Blue Range, St Lu­cien Road, Diego Mar­tin, when the in­ci­dent oc­curred.

Re­ports in­di­cate the vic­tim was hav­ing his break­fast in the front yard around 10:30 am, while the sus­pect was ar­gu­ing with some­one else up­stairs. Dur­ing that ar­gu­ment the sus­pect threw wa­ter in­to his food out­side.

The vic­tim told po­lice he en­tered the house and con­front­ed the sus­pect, and a fight en­sued.

Po­lice re­port­ed as he turned away, the woman grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the back.

The vic­tim al­leged­ly ran out of the house and sought help from a near­by res­i­dent who took him to the St James Med­ical Com­plex where he was treat­ed and lat­er ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cers lat­er de­tained the sus­pect at her home, and re­trieved the knife used in the in­ci­dent in the kitchen.
