The partial decomposed body of a woman was found just off the Gulf of Paria on Monday.
The body was retrieved at about 5 pm in an area known as 'Big Ben' Blue River.
The body, which was clad only in a pink floral top, was first sighted by fishermen at about 3 pm.
A party of police officers led by Supt Wayne Mystar went via pirogue to the area.
Mystar told the Guardian Media that the body sported a dreadlocks hairstyle.
He said the body can still be identified and are asking members of the public to assist.
