Good day, yet again I am forced to highlight the continuous non payment of Gratuity money from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) for the former Special-Anti Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (SAUTT) workers who were offered an initial three (3) years contract with the TTPS from the period 2011 to 2014. Sicx years later and we are still waiting.
The most recent delaying tactic from the TTPS Finance Department was for the ex SAUTT to provide an affidavit and bank statement for September 2011 as TTPS Finance Department indicated they did not pay the salary for the ex SAUTT workers for that month.
Most of the ex-SAUTT workers have provided the requested Document for TTPS and as expected, have not received any feedback or update thus far.
It should also be noted at least two (2) of the ex SAUTT workers would never receive their gratuity money as a result of their unfortunate death.
I would like to ask the Manager of the TTPS Finance Department, to kindly justify the continuous non payment of the ex SAUTT workers Gratuity since 2014.
I am sure the excuse for this latest delay would be the Covid 19 Pandemic. I wonder if the present Commissioner of Police (COP), who is employed on contract, would have to wait over six years for his gratuity?
It is clear the TTPS Finance Department Manager does not account to anyone, hence the blatant incompetence and continued failure in having the issue of the non payment of gratuity sorted out. It appears the ex SAUTT workers have to practically BEG and PLEAD to get what is rightfully owed to them. It is very unfair to the ex SAUTT workers having to be waiting for such a long period. I am hoping this matter is resolved as soon as possible, thank you.
