Real Maracas takes EFA Big Four

M&M Re­al Mara­cas cap­tured the $15,000 Emer­ald Apart­ments & Plaza spon­sored East­ern Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Pre­mier Di­vi­sion "Big Four" ti­tle af­ter a 0-0 with last year's win­ner, Joe Pub­lic at Mar­vin Lee Sta­di­um, Ma­coya on Tues­day. Go­ing in­to the match, Re­al Mara­cas led with max­i­mum six points and need­ed on­ly a draw while Joe Pub­lic was sec­ond with four points and need­ed noth­ing less than full points. How­ev­er, at the end of the 90 min­utes of reg­u­la­tion time at Ma­coya, the Mara­cas play­ers had done enough to add the 'Big-Four" crown to the EFA FA Tro­phy they won last month at the same venue.

Re­al Mara­cas al­so earned the lone spot avail­able to the T&T Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion Cham­pi­on of Cham­pi­ons Tour­na­ment which serves as a qual­i­fi­er for the bmo­bile Na­tion­al Su­per League. For the run­ner-up spot, Joe Pub­lic col­lect­ed $7,500 while for­mer win­ners' Carib won by de­fault from St John's Unit­ed to end with four points and third spot worth $4,500. St John's Unit­ed got $3,000. Yes­ter­day (Thurs­day), the First Di­vi­sion "Big Four" con­tin­ued with sec­ond round match­es while the com­pe­ti­tion ends on Thurs­day with the fi­nal slate of match­es.
