Title-holders Jamaica will meet Grenada tonight from 8.30pm in the second semifinal of the Digicel Caribbean Cup Finals. The matches are scheduled for the Dillon Pierre Aliker Stadium, Fort De France, Martinique. In the first semifinal, Cuba, winners of Group H which involved Grenada, seven-time champions T&T and hosts Martinique will meet Guadeloupe from 5.30pm. Guadeloupe sealed its semifinal qualification with a 1-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda, also on Wednesday. The win for Guadeloupe improved its points tally to four, one ahead of Antigua and Barbuda which only needed a draw to qualify for the semis.
Tonight's matches will be rematches of the final and third placed encounters of two years. On Wednesday night, the Reggae Boyz, winners in 1991, 1998, 2004 and 2008 ended Group I with a 4-0 result over Guyana to win the group with maximum nine points. Jamaica had already qualified as Group I winners and as a result coach Theodore Whitmore made a number of changes. The opening goal came on 42 minutes when Dane Richards headed home the simplest of chances into an empty net for a 1-0 half-time lead.
On the resumption, Jamaica went further ahead in the 49th minute through Marvin Morgan. Ten minutes later, Jamaica put the result beyond doubt when Johnson crossed from the left to find Morgan in an enormous amount of space just outside the six-yard box and with time on his side he took a touch before finishing with ease. Morgan rattled the net with his team's fourth item two minutes into time added on to send a warning to Grenada, which it defeated in the 2008 Final. Earlier at the same venue Jean-Luc Lamboude 41st minute strike was enough for Guadeloupe to edge Antigua and Barbuda 1-0.
