National player Sunil Narine propelled host team Klondykes Sports Club into the semifinals of the Klondykes Sports Club Invitational Windball Series 2010. Narine slammed an unbeaten 39 to steer Klondykes to a ten wicket victory over Triangle Real Street in their quarterfinal encounter at the Aranjuez Savannah last Sunday. Chasing fifty two runs for victory Klondykes needed just four overs to overhaul the required target with Narine striking five massive sixes and one four during his inning. When Real Street batted they were restricted to their modest total mainly through the efforts of Shawn De Silva who picked up two wickets without conceding a run and Avian Mejias who claimed two for fourteen.
Also securing a place in the semis were tournament favourites Spring Village Sports who humiliated Road Runners getting home by 53 runs. Spring Village batted first and piled up 114 for seven from the allotted fifteen overs with Dwayne James 27, Keron Noreiga 22 and Sunil Beepat 17 their main contributors.
David Balkaran and Kapil Harry picked up two wickets each for Road Runners. In their reply Road Runners were restricted to 61 for seven when the overs ran out. Meanwhile Marios Ah Cricket Side scored a major upset when they turned back early pace setters Savannah Boys winning by 38 runs. Ah Cricket Side batted first and managed to reach 75 for five at the end of the allotted overs. Top scorers for Ah Cricket Side were Christopher Jagmohan and Hayden Rampersad with 23 and 16 respectively while Rishi Rampersad was the best bowler for Savannah Boys with two for nine. Savannah Boys could only get as far as 37 before they were bowled out. The other quarterfinal match between Aranjuez Sports Club and DA Team will be played this Saturday. In the semifinals Spring Village will take on Ah Cricket Side while Klondykes will clash with the winner between Aranjuez and DA Team.
