T&T's Njisane Phillip advanced to the Second Round of the Men's Keirin at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, Columbia yesterday when he won the sixth heat of the First Round Repechage at the Alcides Nieto Patino Velodrome.
Phillip, T&T's only representative at the international event, had earlier placed third in his First Round heat behind France's Gregory Bauge and New Zealand's Simon Van Velthooven, but made the most of his second chance in the Repechage.
He was one of 12 cyclists out of the original contingent of 30 to make it to the second stage . In his Second Round race carded for yesterday evening, the 19-year-old was set to go up against Bauge, the Czech Republic's Dennis Spicka, Great Britain's Jason Kenny, Poland's Adrian Teklinski and Azizulhasni Awang of Malaysia.
