Santa Rosa Boy goes for glory

Guineas winner, Santa Rosa Boy which has been in great form since joining the barn of young trainer Michael Carew (Jnr), will be seeking to win his fourth race for his new connections. Though saddled with top-weight of 56.5 kilos for Saturday’s feature 1,600 metre Restricted Handicap on the turf course, Santa Rosa Boy with Stanley Chadee in the saddle, still looks the one to beat.

The classic winner has won three races and head the 12 horse field for the $35,000 purse event. Santa Rosa Boy will be giving away four kilos to Handsome Warrior and 22.5 kilos to bottom weight Rachael’s Way (34 kilos) in the Restricted Handicap over 1600 metres on the turf course. Should the event be run off on the turf track then Santa Rosa Boy will have most to fear from the John O’Brien-trained Dream Girl, which loves the turf and is well weighted with 46 kilos.
