All rounder Jyd Goolie was in great form yesterday, as he inched T&T Under-13 close to Barbados Under-13's first innings score of 117, on the opening day of the Malcolm Marshall Cup at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva. Goolie grabbed two wickets for four runs to bowl out Barbados for 117 in their first innings and by the close he was unbeaten on 43, as the home team reached 93 for four-just 24 runs adrift. Great weather greeted the players at the NCC yesterday and Barbados called correctly at the toss and decided to take first strike. By the end of their innings, they would have regretted that decision as only Lenico Boucher with a composed 47 looked the part. Prolific scorer Akeil Greenidge got only 14, as the T&T bowlers shone in the sun.
Amirsh Rampersad bagged 3/17, Shane Smith 3/16 and Goolie 2/4. Goolie then batted sensibly playing well within his means to take T&T to a position of strength. T&T will be looking to take the Malcolm Marshall Cup after losing the Inshan Ali Cup to their visitors 2-0 last week. The match continues today at 10am.
