New Creations of La Brea whipped Boca Juniors of Fyzabad 4-1 in the grand final of the Southwest Super 5 Community Football Tournament.The game was played on Wednesday at the Petrotrin Palo Seco Velodrome before a large crowd of supporters.
At the end of the game the Championship trophy was presented by Petrotrin's George Commissiong, who congratulated the winners on a fine performance. Commissiong promised an even bigger and better Tournament in 2011.
New Creations got their goals from Joel Jeremiah, Chad Joseph and a double from captain and former national under-17 striker Andre Alexis. They led 3-0 at half time and Boca Juniors benefitted from an own goal to get on the score-sheet in the second half.
Gemma Hamilton , Manager of New Creations said "this victory is great and we worked very hard for it. We got a lot of support from the people of La Brea and a lot of them travelled down to Palo Seco tonight to see us win the title. We intend to win it again next year to show the public that football in La Brea is on the rise.".
This year the tournament was sponsored by Petrotrin, National Gas Company (NGC) and National Energy Corporation (NEC) as part an effort to develop sport throughout communities in south Trinidad. The teams that participated in the Super 5 tournament were - Marabella, Fyzabad, Point Fortin, La Brea and Palo Seco The winners pocketed the $8,000 first prize and the runners-up $5,000.
There were also 'Man of the Match' awards for each game and a Most Valuable Player award.
