T&T's Njisane Phillip finished 10th in the Men's Keirin at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, Columbia on Friday evening. After qualifying for the second round by winning his Repechage heat, the 19-year-old just missed out on the final with a fourth place finish behind Azizulhasni Awang of Malaysia, Denis Spicka of the Czech Republic and Great Britain's Jason Kenny.
He was also the fourth in the following 7th-11th race, which was enough to secure him a place in the top 10 out of an original pool of 30 cyclists. Ahead of him in that race were France's Gregory Bauge, Greek Christos Volikakis and Canadian Travis Smith respectively. The Keirin was eventually won by Awang, who edged second place Francois Pervis of France and bronze medalist Spicka in the final.
