Na­tion­al women's team starik­er Natasha St Louis was vot­ed the Most Valu­able Play­er of the Tour­na­ment as Wa­ter One Re­al Di­men­sion edged Trinci­ty Na­tion­als 3-2 in the fi­nal of the SW Fut­sal In­vi­ta­tion­al Women's Chal­lenge Tro­phy at the East­ern Re­gion­al Sport Are­na, Tacarigua on Sat­ur­day.

For her ex­ploits, St Louis eceived the MVP Tro­phy, AS Bry­den PI Di­vi­sion Ham­per and a $1,000 gift cer­tifi­cate from the sports store Fan Zone of Movi­eTowne, while Re­al Di­men­sion walked away with the cash prize of $4, 000, the SW Fut­sal In­vi­ta­tion­al Chal­lenge Tro­phy, medals and ham­pers.

In the semi­fi­nals, Re­al Di­men­sion slipped past Cham­pi­ons 2-1 and Trinci­ty Na­tion­al eked out a 1-0 win over Maple Leaf In­ter­na­tion­al.Ear­li­er on in the quar­ter­fi­nals, Re­al Di­men­sion got the bet­ter of Tech­nocrats 3-2 on penal­ty-kicks; Trin­i­ty Na­tion­als blanked St George's Col­lege Un­der-15s 2-0; Cham­pi­ons downed Trinci­ty Na­tion­als 'A' 1-0 and Maple Leaf oust­ed Sweater Tour­ing Team 2-0 on penal­ties.

Pri­or to the kick off of the one-day tour­na­ment, for­mer na­tion­al goal­keep­er Lin­coln "Tiger" Phillips and Tech­ni­cal Di­rec­tor of T&T Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion re­it­er­at­ed the growth of women's foot­ball world-wide and na­tion­al­ly whilst, urg­ing par­tic­i­pants to con­tin­ue to strive for ex­cel­lence through sport.

Phillip's ad­vised the play­ers to stay away from neg­a­tive in­flu­ences and en­cour­aged them to put God first in all their en­deav­ors.Trib­ute was al­so paid na­tion­al women's team play­er and Swe­den-based pro­fes­sion­al Akheela Mol­lon for her suc­cess as a na­tion­al play­er and role mod­el to up­com­ing and young women foot­ballers.

Oth­er fes­ti­val high­lights in­clud­ed Red Bull Freestyle Ex­hi­bi­tion by Ker­ron Forde.Speak­ing af­ter the event, SW Tour­ing Events Man­ag­er, Ge­of­frey Ed­wards said the women's tour­na­ment, the first event put on by his or­gan­i­sa­tion served to sen­si­tize and ed­u­cate women foot­ballers to the sport of fut­sal through par­tic­i­pa­tion.

"Af­ter this suc­cess­ful event, cou­pled with teams' will­ing­ness and pos­i­tive re­sponse, our or­gan­i­sa­tion in­tends to im­ple­ment and man­age fur­ther women sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties and projects." he added

This tour­na­ment was the last of the suc­cess­ful 2010 Cal­en­dar of Sport­ing Events for the or­gan­i­sa­tion who cel­e­brat­ed its first an­niver­sary on 21 No­vem­ber.
