KINGSTON-Xavier Marshall warmed up nicely for next month's start of the Caribbean Twenty20 Championship with a brilliant half-century in a practice match on Thursday. The 24-year-old right-hander, who has struggled in international cricket, cracked a stroke-filled 85 from 61 deliveries to fire Wavell Hinds' XI to 203 for five off their allotted 20 overs, against Brendon Parchment's XI.
Playing at Kensington Park, Marshall counted ten fours and three sixes in his knock and was supported by David Bernard Jr who slammed 51 from 41 balls with two fours and three sixes, and Marlon Samuels who belted an even 50 from 19 balls. Left-arm wrist spinner Dennis Bulli claimed three for 50 from four overs. Resurgent West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor ended wicket-less, conceding 35 runs off his four overs. Parchment's XI finished on 132 for four off their 20 overs. (CMC)
