NORTH SOUND – Reign­ing cham­pi­ons Guyana, scored a thrilling one-run vic­to­ry over Som­er­set in their Caribbean Twen­ty20 match at the Vi­vian Richards Crick­et Ground, yes­ter­day. Set 113 for vic­to­ry, Som­er­set ap­peared to be cruis­ing at 108 - 4 with nine balls re­main­ing.

How­ev­er, they lost four wick­ets with­out ad­di­tion to that score. They need­ed five runs from the last over but could on­ly get three as Esau Cran­don proved dif­fi­cult to get away. Nick Comp­ton top­scored for Som­er­set with 32 with good scores al­so com­ing from Sup­pi­ah (26) and But­ler (18). Bard­well (2-19), Per­me­ul (2-20) and Cran­don (2-22) were the best bowlers.

Ear­li­er Guyana strug­gled to 112 for 8 with cap­tain and man-of-the-match Ramnaresh Sar­wan crack­ing 59 from 48 balls with three fours and three six­es. The on­ly oth­er bats­man to reach dou­ble fig­ures was Roys­ton Cran­don who got 10 as op­pos­ing skip­per Al­fon­so Thomas grabbed 3 for 23, in­clud­ing bowl­ing Sar­wan in the last over. (CMC)
