Defending champion Talin Rajendranath will be part of a field of 124 golfers expected to turn out when the T&T Golf Association launches its 2011 season with the ANSA Merchant Bank Limited/Tatil Open Invitational Golf Tournament at the St Andrew's Golf Club in Moka, Maraval this morning. It will mark the 18th year that the two organisations have co-sponsored the prestigious two-day tournament, which will be keenly contested in its six categories: Championship, First Flight, Second Flight, Seniors, Super Seniors and Ladies Flight.
A new champion will be crowned in the Women's division as last year's winner Brittany Marquez is pursuing her golf and studies in Florida, USA. This tournament is the first event of the year where golfers who aspire to represent the country in International and Caribbean Golf Tournaments can begin to accumulate points toward a national ranking. The St Andrew's course is in pristine condition and the organisers are looking forward to a successful weekend among the golfers. Tatil's managing director Chip Sa Gomes, executive director Mussa Ibrahim and Tatil Life's executive director Richard Jones have expressed the company's pleasure again in supporting the event and the activities of the T&T Golf Association. Due to the relationship with the company, the TTGA has seen growth of the sport in the country and through this tournament, aspiring athletes have emerged and grown into talented golfers and citizens.
