Fast bowler Atiba Alert was in good form yesterday, taking his team the Rayad Emrit XI to an innings and 55-run victory over the Gibran Mohammed XI on the third and final day of the national trials at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva yesterday.Facing a deficit of 232 runs, Mohammed's team was bowled out for 177 at 2.05pm with only two batsmen making an impression.
Opener Dr Tishan Maraj scored 56 with nine fours and West Indies Under-19 allrounder Yannick Carriah made 40 with four boundaries.Alert, the W-Connection player, ended with 5/59 including a hattrick in which he dismissed Gibran Mohammed, Daniel St Clair and Keegan Roy in successive deliveries.The next trial match will take place from next Thursday at the NCC. The team is preparing for the regional First Class tournament that gets going on February 5.
