Richard Jones took first place in the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teaches Association (TTUTA) annual 10k road race yesterday afternoon at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.Jones, 34, a seasoned long distance runner, took the gold medal ahead last year's champion Tobagonian Curtis Cox by just under 90 seconds.Cox finished third behind Kelvin Johnson.
The event consisted of two races, a one-lap race and the main event, the 10k.The one-lap race started and ended at the same point, QRC, with Jason Parris winning in a time of 13 minutes and 30 seconds.The 10k event started outside Whitehall and took a field of 177 runners a full lap around the Queen's Park Savannah, through Saddle Road, Long Circlar Road, then along Tragarete Road onto Cipriani Boulevard to finish opposite Queen's Royal College.
