Corona Fatima won its first three matches in the T&T Hockey Board Indoor Championship Under-21 Boys' Division to be installed favourites for the title at the Woodbrook Youth Facility on Saturday. In its opener, Fatima whipped Stag Malvern 7-1 led by two goals each from Ishmael Campbell (3rd & 21st), Dominic Jaikaransingh (4th & 23rd) and Jose Gonzales (18th & 25th), Che Modeste 10th). This was followed by a narrow 2-1 triumph over Shape with Quinn Clarke finding the winner a minute from full-time while Fatima also edged rivals, Queen's Park 3-2 thanks to a 29th minute field goal from Campbell.
Fatima leads six-team round-robin tournament with nine points, three ahead of Notre Dame which won both its matches, 4-0 over Shape and 5-0 versus Paragon. For the Dames, Aidan De Gannes, the board's nominee for the First Citizens Sports Foundation "Youth of the Year" scored a hat-trick in each match.
In the Girls' equivalent, Shandy Carib Magnolias and Notre Dame were joint leaders with seven points each while Ventures was next with six. However, while the Dames has played four matches, Magnolias and Ventures have a match in hand. The tournament was expected to end last night.
