T&T Under-17s defeated Canada Under-17s by seven wickets in their limited overs clash at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva yesterday. Batting first Canada made 176 all out off 50 overs and T&T responded with 177 for three off 45.5 overs with opener Jeremy Solozano hitting an unbeaten 74 and skipper Vikash Mohan 31 not out. Andy Gobin was also among the runs, getting 34. Solozano played a mature innings and guided T&T home. He faced 141 balls and struck five fours.
Earlier, Manny Aulakh scored an unbeaten 39 to lead Canada to 176 all out of their allotted 50 overs. The best of the bowlers for T&T was Jesse Bootan who claimed 4/21. He was well supported by Jovan Ali with 2/25 and Jonathan Hurst 2/29. The Canadians continue their tour today with match against First Citizens Clarke Road United at Wilson Road in Penal. The Canadian Under-19 team is spending one week in T&T preparing for the ICC Under-19 qualifiers to be held in Miami from February 9.
