Borde said that Barath had proved himself as a player of class and would be a strong asset to West Indies cricket in the coming years. "Adrian seems to come up trumps when it matters most. After scoring a Test century on debut in Australia and now with this, he's shown that he can handle the pressures of international cricket. He has good things in store for him once he continues to concentrate on his game and keeps himself fit." He added that Barath had the right ingredients to become a world class batsman. "He has a good work ethic and I know that he's trained extremely hard over the last few months. It's clear that he wants to develop into a top international cricketer and he's done well in the early stages of his career." Borde said he was looking forward to keeping track of Barath's form during the upcoming World Cup, which he pointed out would play a major role in West Indies' fortunes. "He will have a good opportunity to announce himself on the world stage at the World Cup. It's important for him to do well and give West Indies a good start in the early portion of the innings. He will need to compliment his senior opener Chris Gayle since the first 10 overs set the tone for the innings." (Reporting by Nicholas Clarke)
