Holder rescues Merry Boys with 96
Bajan allrounder Alcindo Holder had a memorable day as Ceramic Merry Boys rallied to a 29-run win over SIS Central Sports in the T&T Cricket Board National League at Honeymoon Park, Tacarigua yesterday. Holder rescued his side from disaster with a fighting 96 which enabled them to reach 170 all out in 45 overs. Central’s John-Ross Jaggessar (3-33) and Kevon Garraway (3-29) each troubled the Merry Boys batsmen whose next best score was Lincoln Roberts’s 19.
Holder then took three for 28 in 10 overs to help bowl Central out for 141 in 49.5 overs. Ashley Nurse also proved a handful with three for 24 in 10 while Troy Cornelius fell one short of 50. In other matches, former West Indies Under-19 allrounder Yannic Cariah came agonisingly close to leading Clico Preysal to victory over Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) at Inshan Ali Park.
Cariah took three for 25 in nine overs to help reduce the Parkites to 141 for nine off 45 overs with Patrock Nicholas topscoring with 39. In reply, Preysal reached 136 for nine when their overs ran out with Cariah left unbeaten on 80. Fast bowler Rashad Harris took three for 31 in nine overs while Ricardo Patty, Christopher Jordan and Marlon Dartly all played their part with two wickets apiece.
