Cactus Amour makes seasonal debut

The Glen Mendez trained Cactus Amour will make seasonal debut in Saturday’s feature Arima Race Club Cup over 1,800 metres at Santa Rosa Park. Cactus Amour which recently was adjudged champion imported stayer has the distinction of being the only horse to beat horse of the year Bruceontheloose. The SIR Stable owned Cactus Amour ended the winning run of Bruceontheloose in this event last year and went on to beat him on two other occasions inclusive of the Gold Cup.

Ricky Jadoo will be reunited with the champion stayer and although toting top weight of 57.5 kilos will be very difficult to beat. Gold Cup runner-up Montejo will again be his main rival in the nine-horse field which carries a purse of $150,000. Post time for first event is at noon.
