K Brands kept hold of the UWI Employees Super League title with a hard fought 2-1 win over Semi Pro at the University of the West Indies Ground, St Augustine earlier this month.Ronnie Forbes and Sahvon Fredericks got a goal each for K Brands to open a two-goal cushion before Avery Cabralis pulled a goal back for Semi Pro.In the end, K Brands managed to hold onto its slim lead to retain the title and take home the
$7,000 and the UWI Credit Union Challenge Trophy while Semi Pro got $3,000.In the Knockout final, GEMS got the better of Tunapuna Titans 4-1 on penalty-kicks after both teams had battled to a 2-2 draw.Teven Simon and Nicholas Smith were on target for GEMS in regulation-time while Titans got their replies from Daniel Seetahal and Tehson Rullock to force penalties, where they stumbled.
With the win, GEMS received $3,000 and the President George Maxwell Richards Challenge Trophy while Titans $1,000.The end of season awards function for the 2010 season will be held after the Carnival celebrations while teams interested in competing in the 2011 season are asked to contact Brian Smith at UWI Works Department or 662-2002/682-8683.Registration closes March 3 while the tournament commences on March 27.
