Allrounder Aneil Kanhai finished with match figures of five for 45 and scored an unbeaten 75 to guide Ceramic Merryboys to a six-wicket win over WC Wanderers in the second round of the Eastern Credit Union National League's Premier Division at Gilbert Park yesterday.After being set a target of 192, Merryboys got home in 49.2 overs for the loss of four wickets as Kanhai topscored for the second time in the match, to go with his first innings 41, and wicket-keeper Samuel Felix chipped in with 43.
Wanderers were bowled out for 79 in their first innings on Saturday to which Merryboys responded with 96. After beginning began yesterday's play on 196 for eight in their second innings, Wanderers were dismissed for 209 with Omesh Ramoutar hitting 68 and Bajan Ashley Nurse (5/54), Nicholas Rampersad (2/24) and Kanhai (2/42) doing the majority of the damage.
