Shaquille Sylvester, net­ted two free throws with 18 sec­onds to go, spurring Mount Hope to the nar­row­est of wins over Trail­blaz­ers 36-35 in a Group B Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League (SBL) East­er Hoops Clas­sic de­cider yes­ter­day. The match­es at Jean Pierre Com­plex con­tin­ued to thrill as Mount Hope Spurs se­cured the third win re­quired to top Group B with a place in the Big 4 against Group A sec­ond placed Va­len­cia Heat. Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary went top of Group A with a win by de­fault af­ter the Ch­agua­nas Li­ons failed to field a full side for the fi­nal group match.

Sylvester end­ed with a game high 18 points while Shaquille Pe­ters helped Spurs with sev­en. At the end of the first quar­ter, Trail­blaz­ers were lead­ing 10-2 but drift­ed in­to a com­pla­cent state al­low­ing Spurs to tight­en the score­line net­ting ten points to four in the sec­ond quar­ter. De­spite the Trail­blaz­ers lead of 24-20 by the start of the last quar­ter, a de­fi­ant Spurs gave all with much help of at­tack­er Sylvester to over­turn the score.

Ju­vani An­drews and Maxime Pereira Jr net­ted nine and six points re­spec­tive­ly for Trail­blaz­ers. Michael David­son net­ted a three point­er in a fi­nal ef­fort as the clock ex­pired to end the game. Ani­ka Not­ting­ham of the Diego Mar­tin All Stars net­ted all but two points, lead­ing her team to a 19-15 win over Mount Hope Spurs in the Girls' matchup. All Stars now rest on sev­en points lead­ing the group. Al­liyah Carmichael and Sylire Bonas took six and four points in ef­forts for the Spurs.
